Review: Nail Rock Meadham Kirchhoff Nail Wrap

The first time I saw this was on the Topshop website, I thought the print on it looked pretty adorable and quite retro. So after I finished my exams I went to the Topshop in town and bought it:
The pack of nail wraps cost me £7.00, which is actually quite pricey, I didn't mind as the print as just too nice to be ignored. In the pack there are some acetone wipes, a nail filer and a cuticle pusher (wooden stick with sharp ends). I thought the things that came with the nail wraps might actually be great help in the application of them.
Once I have actually tried to put the nail wraps on, I started regretting spending £7 on it. Despite the nail wraps coming in different sizes, NONE of them actually fit my nails. This caused wrinkles on the nail wraps and extra bits coming off the edges on my nails, they are not easy to trim as it is far too easy to mess up.
Overall, this looked great on the packaging and everything, but I would not buy one again since it is just far too hard to apply. This product will be rated a 1out of 5, since it just looks pretty from the packaging, but does nothing otherwise.

Graze Box! Free code inside!

I finally got a Graze Box! :D
Having heard about this a while ago via Facebook, I have always been curious about just how this whole thing works. Apparently, what happens is that you register with them, and then you will get to rate all the food and every week they will send you a different variety of foods depending on your ratings.
So this way, you will get something different in each box, with the ones you like being sent most regularly and the ones you are happy to try sent  occasionally, the food that has been binned will never be sent.
So the box itself looks like this:
inside it are 4 compartments, with different things being sent:
I had Summer berry flapjack, Heart healthy nuts, Super berry detox and Very Nori-sh sent to me after I rated the stuff on the website. each box looks like this:

they are all nicely packed and looks really appealing! Actually cannot wait to try them out. The best thing is that whenever you decided you no longer want the box sent to you, you can cancel the next delivery, making the whole system really flexible, for example, when you are on holiday you can pause the deliveries for a few weeks, and then continue the whole thing!
Now due to this being the first box I got, I have codes for a free box that I can give out!
The code is: N1QZ51ND

Haul: Trafford centre, 15/06/2012

It's been a while! :(
I have been busy with exams and then got REAL lazy with life.
Anyways, I had a trip to the Trafford Centre today and got the following items. Again this is in no way showing off, I AM SKINT!

Item No.1: Minty coloured jumper(?), Topshop, £26

I was just looking around the shop when I found this. The colour with great, a sort of minty green with random black dots in it. The jumper is a loose fit sort of sheer so I will definitely need to wear something underneath. It can be worn so many ways, with shorts, jeans, a dress underneath or just whatever! I think it is worth the price, since there are so many ways to wear it.

Item No.2: Dress, H&M, £10

This dress has a sort of cute print on it, the main coulour being pink with tiny heart prints all over it. It was in the sales being sold at £10. I tried it on, everything fit well except it didn't fit too well around my boobs, which is pretty non-existent... It was something that has never happened in the history of my life!
Despite that, this dress has POCKETS. I always thought dresses with pockets are convenient, I hate it when I wear a dress and has nowhere to put my phone! So dress with pockets, definitely want.

Item No.3: Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, M.A.C, £18.50

I have needed a powder for ages, to set everything on my face (which is not actually a lot).
So the powder has a black packaging:
Is it bad if I liked this box more than the actual box for the powder? it's sort of sparkly....
Okay, so the powder itself appears white in the packaging (dodgy, I joke). I was worried about it being too pale at first but when I tried it on it is actually transparent and melted into my skin. I am yet to try it out on lasting power, something might be written about this later....

Item No.4: Active Charcoal Mask, Origins, £19

My clay mask from Superdrug ran out a few days (a week) ago, I decided to not buy it again because it left my skin really dry to the point where it's nearly peeling off my face (ew). So I decided to splash out and get this. It claims to clear out pores of "stuff" in it. Since it is charcoal I am sort of convinced. Again, I am yet to try this out, something might be written about it later. :)

So that's it. Apart from all those I also bought a new shirt for dad, since it's father's day soon. After this shopping trip I am not even going to check my bank account....

Laters!

DIY Denim Shorts!

hello guys!
I have been looking for a pair of high waisted denim shorts for what seemed like forever, but I didn't find any in the shops that's the sort of shorts I wanted, or they were just down right pricey. After looking up a few videos on youtube I had the crazy idea to make my own pair.

So I took out all the old jeans I used to own and don't wear anymore, and I ended up trying this pair:
As you can see the jeans are high waisted and does not fit well around the legs. I decided these will be perfect to be changed up into a pair of shorts.

So first I have marked on the jeans the line at which I will cut them for the first time. It will be better to cut it longer at first since if it is too short there will be no going back! So I marked the line out with a white eyeliner pencil:
my lines were a bit messy as I didn't use a ruler at first.... then the ruler came in and made the measurements a lot easier! After I was sure about the measurements and the marks I have drawn on it, the jeans were cut at the line marked.

On the left were the jeans after the first cut, I have then tried the jeans on and then marked out the second line I am going to cut as it is too long at the moment and I will need to add the curves into the shorts too.
So I have cut the jeans another time, now the front is shorter with a tiny curve added on the side, I have also trimmed the back so it is a bit shorter than it was before. Note that every time the jeans were trimmed, try it on afterwards to see how it fits, so you will have an idea as in how to cut it so it suits your shape!

After I made sure the cuts were right, I started tearing up the fabric at where I cut the jeans so the trimmed sides didn't look so obvious. I ripped my jeans with a pair of tweezers.
by tearing out some fabric, it had this torn up effect. By doing this, a lot of white threads also came out, it doesn't have to be dealt with now. After I finished tearing up the sides, I proceeded to remove the white threads that were exposed by tearing them out, but don't do it too harshly, if it doesn't come out of the fabric by it self, snip it with a pair of scissors.

I got a bit lazy during the process and didn't take as many pictures as I should have, and here is the finished product:
Sorry about the bad lighting, by the time I properly finished with these it was already night time. I have not yet had pictures of me wearing it, but it should be taken soon!
Again remember always try the jeans/shorts on after trimming it, or any alterations, just so you know how it fits.
Have fun making your own shorts!

Product Review: TRESemmé Split Remedy Sealing Serum

Hello!
Around mid March (I think), I attempted DIY dip dye in my hair. Whilst giving me some nice blonde ends, it also bleached the life out of the ends. My trip back to China did not help either as the climate was EXTREMELY dry.
So after I got back to the UK, split ends started to appear and panic kicks in! I went to Superdrug and saw the new TRESemmé Split Remedy Sealing Serum on offer at 2 for £5.99 (Normal price £5.99, I think). After taking £2 off them with my Beauty card, I got 2 bottles of this for £3.99.
On the packaging of this product it stated that a pump of the serum should be enough, and the serum should be applied to wet hair from mid length. However for my hair I found that one pump of the product is just not enough, in fact I needed quite a few pumps of it to cover my hair from mid length to the ends. After application you should just leave your hair to dry. The serum has left a weird sticky feeling on my palms, despite applying most of it on my hair and the weird thing is that the sticky feeling stays after I washed my hands with water?

It claimed on the packaging that the serum should seal 80% of the split ends after 3 days. Looking at my hair now I can still spot the odd split end, but my hair is definitely looking and feeling a lot better. My hair now feels smoother and a great contrast from the frizzy hell it was before I used the serum.

Overall I am happy with this product and can't wait to see what it can do to my hair if I keep using it! I don't like the sticky feeling on my hair (In contrast of almost weightless from frizz ease.) and how I need a fair bit of the serum to actually cover my hair properly. But it is an good product to act on split ends!

More stuff coming up!

Massive Haul: Loadsa of stuff! :D

Hello! Long time no see! I have been fairly busy with work so not done much on here.
Recently there has been a sale in Topshop, and I couldn't miss the chance to grab a few goodies!
So here is a mini haul of what I bought in Topshop! This is in no way showing off as I earn my money from hard work.

Item number 1!
This is a dress I saw in the sales, had to take another look at the label because it was down to £10 from £50! This is a very nice pale pink coloured dress with a sweetheart neckline, cut out details and a floaty skirt. Surprisingly this size fitted perfectly. If you are worried about the strapless dress falling off, it came with attachable straps! Can not wait to wear it on a night out with some heels!

Item number... 2!
Whilst I was visiting China, my trusty pair of brogues got chipped at the heel due to the constant walking that took place. I had to find a replacement for them, fast. Then I saw these in the sale for £15. They are black, with black, velvet body, a white plastic bottom and looks just like a pair of brogues. Ever since I bought them I have been wearing them with everything as it is extremely versatile in style. However the only downside was that they stuck the sales labels on the sole of the shoe, and they are REALLY sticky. The first time I wore them without the labels my socks got stuck. Haha.

Item number... 3!
I have been looking for a collar necklace for ages! It is a great way to renew an outfit, whether it is a cosy jumper or a lovely dress (with a high neckline, heh). This collar necklace is perfect, it has lovely pearls on it and unlike some necklaces, it is flexible, meaning you will not get awkward rigid shapes around your neckline! Again this is a versatile piece and a great accessory to update your wardrobe, making possibilities (almost) limitless! This necklace was not in the sale and cost me £14, but it is definitely worth the money.

That's all for my haul from Topshop! Do you have any great finds in the sales? Comment away!

Monthly Favourite: November!

Hello lovelies! I can't believe November has already passed by me! Time flies!

So here are my favourite products that I have used a lot during November!

1. Carmex Moisture Plus. £3.49
My old lip balm (Carmex Cherry lip balm, tube packaging) ran out so I had to buy a new one since my lips will probably not be very happy! So I bought the new Carmex Moisture Plus since I just saw a magazine recommending it.

The lip balm came in a standard lipstick packaging, since I purchased the clear one, the lip balm just looked like normal vaseline. But when I applied it on, first thing I noticed was that it did not have the normal nasty Carmex taste, instead it had a more buttery, vanila-ish taste! The product was also very moisturising, perfect for application before lipstick! The slanted tip was also ver helpful in application. Overall, a very happy customer.

2. Maybelline Pure Mineral Concealer

Ah, this is an all time favourite of mine. I love this concealer as it suits my skin tone perfectly and lasts a very long time. This has a quite good coverage as well, the applicator was also quite smart as it is good at locating blemishes. However the only thing I did not like was the packaging, not that it did not look good or anything, the product sometimes leak, leading to a major concealer leakage in my make up bag.

3. Rimmel Natural Bronzer Powder, £5.59
I have to be honest, I have been looking for a bronzer for ages. Since the 3 for 2 offer at Superdrug, I decided to give this product a go. All I can say is that this is indeed, very natural, great for contouring cheekbones, this can even be used as a blush! The pigmentation is not very heavy meaning that the colour can be built up to your liking. Again, the packaging is a problem for me... it is not very secure as there is just a plastic lid over it... surely there should be something to secure that plastic lid...?

4. Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick by Rimmel, £5.49
I have wanted to try this lipstick out for ages since when I tested it out I found that it was quite pigmented. I purchased shade 3(warm nude)  and 8(dark purple). I am cool with the nude colour, great coverage, true to colour, great. But I have really fallen in love with the darker shade as it creates a beautiful dark red colour on your lips when a thin coat has been applied! Only problem was that it was not as long lasting as it stated and I had to reapply it after a few hours.

That is pretty much all of the products. Anything you would like me to review? Post a comment to let me know!

Stay tuned for more!
